A meat sphere can brighten even the darkest of days
I must admit that my experiences and the academie Minerva have not been the best. To say the least I am quite frustrated. So you will have to endure a bit of ranting and raving. Damn my feet smell, kind of along the lines of that sour vinegar smell. I'm sure you could have done without that information. Last week-So first attempt to attend a lesson was thwarted by the fact that the teacher was sick, this was discovered about an hour after the course was supposed to start. Second attempt was successful; however, I lacked the materias to actually begin painting. 1 out of 2 not so bad right, well not so bad yet... HMM... Me thinks it's a good idead to find out about my studio (week 1). First possibility I inquire about a work space, the response is come back tomorrow I'll have it ready. First Friday morning I attempt again, response boy you are persistent; yet you are too early come back toward the end of the day. Damn it woman you only have a 3 hour time frame, 11-2 how the hell is it too early. I return at 2:10 too fucking late, she's home for the weekend. This is the only woman in the entire school that knows where my studio space is. I return on Monday, only to find out that she has high blood pressure and will be out for the week. WTF. Week 2 no studio. Week 3 effing holiday. WHAT TYPE OF EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTION HAS HOLIDAY 3 WEEKS INTO THE SEMESTER. Week 13 nikko finally attains a space to work. That's just the studio not to mention the 2nd week of classes. Tuesday class at 9, but the classroom is locked. Hmm so I sit and wait for 15 minutes. Takes me another half hour to find out that the class has been postponed till 10 and will be in another room. I arrive to class only to find out that I've been placed in the wrong group. The group is a second year group. I'm told to come back at 1 for the third year group. OH how pleasant, nikko gets to wait around for another 3 fucking hours only to go to class at 1 and stare at the damn wall for 2 hours while everyone speaks in Dutch. Today I attempt to go to class at 9, the room is again locked and class is being held in a different room. I find the alternative room and wait for a half an hour till another student walks in. Actually it was a giant named Hans that walked in. He divulges to me a secret, that secret being the teacher I'm supposed to have, the class that I'm supposed to be in--it doesn't exist! The head of the department scheduled me for a class that doesn't exist. AGHHHHHH. Hans helped me to sort things out and escorted me around the school, showed me which classes are when and at what time. I managed to get into a drawing class in the afternoon. But hell things shouldn't be this complicated. Tomorrow I'm going to visit the head of the print department and see if I can learn to do some litho and etching. hoping every thing will run smoothly in after the break and i can get into a steady rythm and be productive.
At least i've been drawing everyday. i'll post some drawings soon. those water colors are looking quite good, i'm interseted in seeing where it takes you. i think with your drawing skills (i.e. pen and ink and graphite) along with the transparency of water colors, some excelllent results could come about. hey i've been writing some notes about Visual Journalism as well as some stuff that struck me as important about mark eanes class. I'm interseted in the points that strcuk you the most? At the end of those classes what did you take away was being the most important ideas discussed? how are your classes? how's the household, including voldermari? your weekend sounded quite crazy. When i got home this greek guy named nikos was eating a meat sphere it made my day. a huge ball of ground meat which he molded around a cheese core. this is serious buisness dan, we should pitch get it up and running. This summer we must begin concocting various spheres and testing the recipes. all right i've got to run. say hi to everybody for me. have you heard of skype? it's interesting www.skype.com
