Lanterns burn bright for we have miles to go and there are demons about

Wednesday.
Driving over the hill to Santa Cruz this morning was nice.
The weather has been hot, I believe this is what they call an "indian summer".

I went to Yosemite last week. It was quite mystical being in this valley of granite monoliths. The first day we drove in El Capitan was enshrouded in a halo of fog and Half Dome wasn't visible at all. The falls were beautiful, if a little small, but thats to be expected right before it is supposed to start snowing there. The next day we drove up to Glacier Point the next day for the incredibly breath taking some might say unnerving panarama of the valley and adjoining flora and lith.

It really all made me want to move into the forest. Felton, Boulder Creek or Ben Lomond.

I've been listening to a lot of metal again.
Kylesa's new album is amazing, as is there album from last year. What is it about the south that pumps out these lovely sludge outfits (Mastodon, Baroness etc...)

Intronauts new album is breath taking. It reminds me of In the Absence of Truth a bit.

Del Rey's new album is incredibly lush and encompassing. I guess I have to say the same thing about the mid-west I said about the south, what is it with the mid-west and post-rock/metal bands (Russian Circles, Pelican, etc).

I have also been listening to Wolves in the Throne Room ad nauseum. Their newer album Black Cascade is pretty incredible. The first song Wanderer Above the Sea of Fog is pretty epic. Their songs are so sprawling and brutal, but quite beautiful.

I got this book recently called The Womans Encyclopedia of Myth and Secret. More or less its a matriarchal look at myth, folklore and religion from pre-history to now. It's incredibly revealing and amazingly inspiring. I can't put it down. It has the origins of every religion, custom, diety, god, demon, ritual and even a lot of words (the root word of cunt and country is the same). It's just amazing to read.

Hope everyone is well, or atleast doing better.

Weekends stress me out.

It has been a long time since I’ve visited this place.

I too have been an anxious, neurotic, sad, frustrated mess of a person for the last months. Ever since I got back from Japan I have wanted, furiously, for my life to change. I’ve felt like every day is a search for doors or windows or black holes, even, that lead to something different than where I am at now.

I have started to resent my job for being the stable, interesting thing in my life. And that alone is counter-intuitive because it seems that a good thing could be a floatation device. Instead, I have been angry and feeling trapped. I’ve found myself saying, “The only reason I haven’t moved and changed is because I’m not ready to leave my job.

That is f-d up!

I’m looking for a place to live or people to live with, so let me know if you hear of something regarding that.

In other news, I played tennis with a stranger, bought a bike that I actually ride, went to my first wedding, and have become a coffee drinker, runner, and fool-for-figs (which are so good rght now!!). All fascinating things, I’m sure.

Who makes art, btw? Is there like a craft night I can get in on? That would be a really nice social concept in my life right now.

Miss you guys.

Nyk: Your milk and honey is sensational.

Dan: How’s your new place working out?

Nikko: I’d really like to talk to you. Can we skype?
